Every year, my students are tasked with creating their own picture book as the FINAL PROJECT in our Fun Reading Class. It’s a way of cultivating their love for reading and storytelling. I know they’ll come across words they don’t know — and that’s totally okay! What I love is how they’ll ask, “What does this word mean?” or even help their classmates read tricky words. I’m sure they won’t remember every single word, but I’m confident there are some words that will stick with them. It’s not perfect — in fact, it’s actually pretty messy. But isn’t that what learning is for? To be messy, to make mistakes, and to grow from them. Watching my students create their own picture books, ask questions, and help each other — even if things aren’t perfect — that’s the kind of learning I love the most. And of course, none of this would’ve been possible without my ever-hardworking co-teacher, who supported and encouraged the students every step of the way. Thank you, Teacher Miranda. I’m so grateful we get to do this together. #teamworkmakesthedreamwork
